One thing you should be aware of is that this is a very sweet chocolate bar, although others I’ve tried have been too sweet, this bar has strange kind of sweetness. I call it a “thin” sweetness. It doesn’t overpower the other flavours and actually complements the rest of the ingredients. Another thing to note is that the chocolate bar is basically 43.2% sugars. Also, if you ate the whole bar of chocolate that would equate to around 538 calories – which is an awful lot. I’d keep your consumption down to a few squares a night – if that’s possible!
Another feature of the Waitrose Amaretti Swiss Plain Chocolate Bar is the small Ameretti biscuit pieces within the chocolate. This leads to a crunchy texture which is extremely welcome in most chocolate bars I find.
This bar is extremely difficult to fault. The only thing I would improve is the packaging which does the chocolate inside no favours. The nutritional information is first rate, the chocolate delightful. I’d personally like to meet the creator of this chocolate bar and shake them by the hand.
Rating:
Taste: 95% – I know there can be some improvements, but I just can’t put my finger on them.
Texture: 90% – fantastically crunchy
Appearance: 85% – the chocolate itself is delightful, but I fear some may not put it in their basket because the packaging doesn’t look exciting.
Nutritional Information: 95% – fantastic information.
Overall: 91.25% – I think this is the best I’ve tasted this year – slightly ahead of NewTree Sexy Ginger Dark Chocolate and the Limited Edition Creamy Filled Coconut Chocolate Bar
