I had high hopes of this Venchi Peperoncino, 75% Chilli Chocolate Bar I bought from Chocolate Trading Co. for just £1.99. Unfortunately I was disappointed. The flavour just reminded me of the aroma of my brother when he came home from doing a shift at the milk packaging plant.
The aroma of the chocolate bar itself reminds me of the cupboards at school. It had that sort of papery aroma that wasn’t all that pleasant. I think these negative thoughts came to mind purely as its very difficult from most dark chocolate at the 75% cocoa level. There wasn’t much of the bitterness associated with high cocoa content chocolate.
Furthermore, the strength of the Chilli was also underwhelming. To my mind, there’s far better chilli dark chocolate out there than this one.
Most of the other Venchi chocolate is priced at the £3.95 level for the same 45g. And I really hope that their Cuor di Cacao is better than this one. I’ll have to fork out and get some.
