Having just popped into Tescos to pick up a couple of non-food items I was drawn to this offer on 12 Thorntons Mini Chocolate Brownies as they were just £1. What I didn’t know then, but I do know now is that that offer runs out tomorrow. They’ll be around £1.50 in Tesco and the other main supermarkets.
If you’re wanting a quick treat then they’re well worth buying. I don’t always think that Thorntons have the most imaginative chocolate, but these mini brownies are pretty much spot on. They not be as good as the Hand Baked Belgian Chocolate Brownies from Sweet As, but the Thorntons brownies can be picked up from any supermarket.
I’d say they’d be a great treat with a hot cup of cocco or coffee on a cold, blustery winter’s night. If I were you, I’d get them from the supermarket if you need a quick fix, or from Sweet As if you’re prepared to wait for chocolate brownie perfection.
With the Thorntons ones you may be a little surprised by the size of each individual brownie. But, you’ll probably be like me and smile when you see that the bottom half has been dipped in chocolate.
The most important part, however, is the taste and texture. The taste is very sweet but not overly chocolatey, whilst the texture is exceptionally soft and gooey.
Taste: 75% – Very nice, but not as nice as the Sweet As ones.
Texture: 75% – nice and gooey.
Appearance: 65% – I was very disappointed about the size of each individual brownie
Nutritional Information: 75% – very good indeed. But you won’t be looking.
Price: 70% – as they’ll be £1.51ish from now on I’ll base my score on that.
