This Balsamic dark chocolate bar is a totally unique bar. There may be a slight similarity to the Pralus Bresil but only because that is also a fairly sharp and unusual dark chocolate bar.
Obviously it does taste of Balsamic vinegar but also reminded me of sandy beaches, motor oil and those German biscuits that people have at Christmas – I can’t remember what they’re called. I’m not entirely sure if I like it. One thing that you’ll notice is that with every bite the balsamic flavour subsides and turns more into a mild ginger flavour which is very welcoming.
This 90g bar is only £1.79 and you can get them in multi-order bundles which will save you a bit so they’re not exactly going to set you back much and should be a great chocolate Christmas present. I’m just a bit worried about how much of an acquired taste it is. I’d be more inclined to try some of Thorntons’ other flavours.
