The Great Brownie Bake Off

The Great Brownie Bake OffIt’s been a bit mad lately as I’ve comeback off holiday. One thing I made sure of whilst I was away was not to do any work. But when Louise emailed asking if I’d like to be a judge on the Great Brownie Bake Off I broke that rule.

Brownies are my favourite chocolate creation. I can leave chocolate biscuits, cookies can pass me by with only the slightest glance, even chocolate cake even go un-noticed. But chocolate brownies? Absolute heaven in my eyes. I’ve seen Paul A. Young make brownies and absolutely loved them when I reviewed them earlier in the year and then failed miserably in trying to make my own. I also loved the Sweet As Ginger brownies but thought the Thortons Brownies weren’t as good. I may not be able to bake (well), but I sure know a good brownie when I see one!

But what is the Great Brownie Bake Off? Well, I couldn’t improve on what Louise wrote in her press release, so here’s the important information:

Taking place on Saturday 9 October 2010 at Look Mum No Hands, the new cycle café on Old Street, the event will be a celebration of the most popular dessert in the UK.  A panel of brownie-experts will decide what makes the perfect brownie and the winner’s recipe will be used by Derbyshire cake company, The Cake Nest, as their exclusive brownie recipe, to be incorporated into their A Piece of Cake range. The winner will also receive a six-month supply of chocolate, kindly donated by Divine Chocolates.

and the details:

Address: Look Mum No Hands, 49 Old Street, London, EC1V 9HX – www.lookmumnohands.com

The event is also supported by The Cake Nest which ius a small family run business based in one of my favourite parts of the country – High Peak, Derbyshire. I’ll be popping over for a BBQ this weekend, BTW.

I hope as many of you can support the event as possible! I’ll be popping down the day before, if anyone wants to meet up for a cuppa and cake?
