Hotel Chocolat Sparkling Stars

This review of the Hotel Chocolate Sparkling Stars Chocolate Truffles has been a complete disaster! There’s nothing wrong with them, in fact its the complete opposite. I was so engrossed in munching them whilst surfing the internet that I completely forgot to note down what I thought of each truffle – suffice to say they were absolutely devine.

First off these are alcoholic truffles with flavours such as Orange Liquer and Toffee, Caramel and Whisky, Mocca and Ameratto, Mojito, Caramel and Golden Rum, Marc de Champagne and Brandy, Kirsch Creme, Cosmopolitan, Calvados and Raisin and Christmas Punch. I was going to say they’re not as alcoholic as The Cocktail Sleekster, but I’d be wrong! They’re very punchy indeed.

You get 15 different varieties and each one is a taste sensation. I feel the best way to enjoy these is not to look at the “menu” but to randomly choose them with a partner and comment on each. In fact, I’m not going to share them with anyone!

The look of them reminded me of the the rustic style of the chocolates produced by Spice Rack Chocolates in America. But the flavours of these Hotel Chocolat Truffles are anything but delicious.

One thing you’ll note is that the are some truffles that aren’t on the menu. If you get one with a cream hash mark on the top that’s a sort of egg-nogg flavour which is quite weired!

There is great variety too. They do a Marc de Champagne truffle with a silvery dash on it which is reminiscent of the Michel Cluizel 1ers Crus De Plantation Ganaches I exclusively reviewed earlier this year!

Rating:

Taste: 80% – they were very nice indeed. Perhaps just falling short of excellent, but I’d definitely want to try them again!

Texture: 80% – each truffle had a different texture, but they were again very nice.

Appearance: 80% – I loved the packaging and the slap-dash appearance of each truffle.

Nutritional Information: 70% – There was an adequate level of information regarding the truffle’s ingredients.

Price: 75% – At £12 they’re very good value!!

Overall: 77% – well worth considering to get someone for Christmas!

You can buy them direct from Hotel Chocolat!
