Sainsbury’s Chocolate Brownie

I normally don’t say to avoid any sort of chocolate product, but I’m going to do a first here. Whilst away I decided to pop into Sainsbury’s in Bath to get a bit of a chocolaty snack. I passed up the opportunity to have another chocolate bar seeing as I’ve reviewed about 200 so far in the past 6 months or so headed to their bakery section.

Whilst standing in front of all the Danishes I decided to plump for one of their chocolate brownies as they looked fantastic. I was slightly worried that they were left open to the air with no covering. But, following my previous brownie experiences, including the out of this world Hand Baked Belgian Chocolate Brownie from Sweet As I decided to spend 79p on it.

However, I was totally disappointed one returning to the hotel room, not because I was in a Travelodge, but because it was literally like eating cardboard. There was no flavour, it was dry and wholly unsatisfying. If you ever consider buying a chocolate brownie from Sainsbury’s then just plump for the packaged Gu chocolate brownies as they’re very good, if a bit pricey.

I apologise for the photography which isn’t up to my usual standard, but hotels don’t normally come with their own photographic studio :-( Overall I’d have to give this chocolate brownie the lowest score of the year at 5%. Avoid and head for the chiller cabinet instead.

I agree the single one is awful however they do a three pack packaged one from their backery and that is definitely worth a try very very nice and moist one of my favourites. So very odd they can be so different!
