Pralus Trinidad 75% Dark Chocolate
18 September 2009 in 75% Dark Chocolate, Pralus, Rating 85%-89%, Trinidad by LeeFollowing on from the Pralus Bresil 75% Dark Chocolate, I’m trying their version from Trinidad and sold by Chocolate Trading Company. Whilst the Brazilian version was much less highly polished, more hazelnutty; the Trinidad variety has a more burnt wood, caramel flavour. They’re completely different, but ultimately both fantastic.
The Pralus Trinidad has a super shine too it, you could almost have a shave in it. With some chocolate the shine is an indication that its overly laden with sugar, whilst with you can just tell that the ingredients are so refined and well milled.
From the photo you can see how small the particles are, but also that there are slight bubbly imperfections that show these dark chocolate bars aren’t mass-produced, but indeed made in much smaller quantities.
I really can’t get enough of this bar, the texture is sublime and the flavour so full of character. It’s strange what pop’s into your head as you try chocolate, but when I tried this Pralus Trinidad 75% I have the image of the American founding fathers. The chocolate was just that wild and smooth with a smokey texture to it. Delightful.
Rating:
Taste: 95% – it really hit the mark for me. Sublime.
Texture: 95% – effortlessly smooth with a fantastic melt.
Appearance 90% – the packaging was interesting and the bar outstandingly smooth and polished.
Nutritional Information 75% – there’s enough to be going on with.
Price: 80% – its not cheap at £3.95, however, it is unbelievably good value when you realise that the taste and texture would be exceptionally difficult to surpass.
Overall: 87% – you’ve got to try it.
