I’m not supposed to like white chocolate, but over the past couple of weeks I’ve been witness to some lovely white chocolate, not least these Fairtrade petals with raspberry and rose flavour. I tried something like this last year with the Hotel Chocolate Puddles, but they had a much more zingy flavour, whilst these were more gentle and romantic.
Previously I’ve had a good experience and one not so good, but loved these in a sort of simplistic, sweet chocolate way. Of course, white chocolate will never offer me the sort of satisfaction that a great bar of dark chocolate can, but for a sweet Christmas chocolate gift I can’t really argue with these though.
Even the price is pretty good at £4.50 from Ethical Superstore. But … there always has to be a ‘but’, I’d put these in the ‘munch a long and not think too much about them’ category. They’re munchtastic, but too mellow if you like strong flavours. The thing is there’s more of a sweet flavour than either the raspberry or rose. To my mind, they could have just turned up those flavours a touch to add a bit more character.
