Pina Colada Caribbean Rum Truffles
13 July 2009 in Chocolate Truffles, Rum by LeeThese are some of the chocolates that I bought back from my recent trip to Barbados and at last I’ve found some I actually like. The Charles Hazelnut Chocolate Bar, the Peter Paul Almond Joy and the Tiki Gold Hazelnut Chocolate Bar were very wide of the mark.
I’m a big fan of truffles anyway and totally adore the William Curley Framboise Truffles and the Charbonnel et Walker Pink Champagne Truffles, but I’d thought I’d give these ones a go seeing as they sound so different.
When you open up the foil wrapper that’s inside you’re met with a very strong rum aroma that is very much brought through in the flavour of the rum as you taste them. There is a very slight coconuty taste, but nothing that you’ll notice to any great degree as you eat them.
In this country we’re used to having chocolates that meet very stringent quality controls, both in terms of flavour, but also appearance. In the Caribbean this isn’t so much of a concern. The most important thing to people in that part of the world is to have a smile on your face. And I’m sure these Chocolate Coated Pina Colada Caribbean Rum Truffles will do just that.
Their website sums them up very well when they say “Bite into your next vacation” – and that’s just what you’ll do if you were partial to the odd Rum & Coke.
You can order them and get them shipped to the UK if you wanted. The minimum order is $50 and you just pay 25% of that as the postage. It could be worth getting a few if you’re having a Caribbean party or just miss the Caribbean.
