I got this Organica Vegan Hazelnut Nougat & Dark Chocolate Bar from Goodness Direct for just 81p but you can also buy them from Ethical Superstore (they’re great people) for 85p.
To be honest I wasn’t quite sure if I’d like it as often chocolate covered nougat can be pretty bland. However, I found this vegan chocolate bar to be enjoyable. It’s not going to knock your socks off, but it’d be great to add in to a child’s pack-lunch and hope they don’t go and buy from the big brands.
As you bite into the bar you can definitely taste the vegan element (or the lack of non-vegan ingredients). I don’t know what it is is with vegan confectionary, but there’s a definite taste. The nougat filling is also nice and would definitely choose this bar again if it was offered to me.
Rating:
Taste: 65% – nice and delicate
Texture: 60% – soft and squidgy
Price: 50% – It’s difficult to say that its an 81p chocolate bar as it doesn’t really compare in terms of volume with other chocolate bars. But you must remember this is an organic version that obviously has higher costs to produce.
