I bought these Mr Kipling Chocolate Slices from Tesco for £1.30 and, although I didn’t expect the world, I expected more than I got.
I do admit though that they look fab. They’ve got nice chunky chocolate pieces on the top and the slices are fantastically soft and spongy. However, I found the taste underwhelming. Compared to the Sweet As chocolate brownies, they’re a distant second, but still way ahead of the Sainsbury’s brownies which were just poor.
If, however, you are a parent buying their child a treat to put in their lunchbox or just for quick consumption at home then I’d say they’re pretty much perfect.
Looking at the nutritional information you can see that each slice is 126 calories which a bit more than I thought. But I’m sure most of us would be fine with just having a couple of slices every now and then. Luckily they come in pre-wrapped combinations of two – which may prevent some us weak-willed chocolate lovers from over-indulging.
I’m going to do a quick review on these and say they’re a 75%. I’m knocking the score down a bit because they’re not sweet or indulgent enough, but I’m going to up it a bit because they’re perfect for kids as a little snack.
