What I also like is try different things. I saw that these Morrisons Rocky Road bars were gluten and wheat free – both things that I think I have an intolerance to, so I thought I’d give them a go. Seeing as my wife has nagged me to review them so she can have what’s left, I’ve interrupted my Saturday evening to jot down my thoughts before she polishes them off.
These Rocky Road bars aren’t meant to be a luxury chocolate item, they’re meant to satisfy the inner chocolate cravings for those who have intolerances. In this case they’re offering a chocolate snack to those who have problems with gluten and wheat and I’ll take another look at what other “free from” foods they have to offer when I’m next in Morrisons.
My first thoughts are that they looked incredibly appetising and that the biscuit base would be heavy and salty like their “non-free from” cousins are generally like. I was thankfully very surprised to find them incredibly light. They are still fairly substantial, but they won’t leave you feeling stuffed.
I also loved the sweetness of the cherries on the top which, when combined with the marshmallows give them a wonderfully original sweetness. They truly are fantastic. And that’s probably why they won the “Grocer Own Label Award for Excellence” in 2009.
I maybe couldn’t eat more than a couple of the bars in one go as there is a slight edge to them that may be I wouldn’t want to overdose on. But apart from that I’d say they’re delicious.
