Pralus Madagascar 75% Dark Chocolate

I just love Pralus chocolate, I’ve tasted the Pralus Bresil and the Pralus Trinidad which were fantastic so I thought I’d try this Pralus Madagascar bar a try.

What I find intriguing about chocolate is how far removed the flavours of bars from the same producer can taste. We’re all used to the flavours of Cadbury and Nestle which are typically very sweet and neutral tasting, but this Madagascar bar is out of this world. It’s like cheese to the Cadbury chalk. Now I’m not saying that you shouldn’t eat Cadbury’s chocolate, it certainly has its place, but this bar offers something completely different.

The Pralus Madagascar dark chocolate bar has a slight balsamic quality with a strong roasted chesnut over-tone and maybe a fig bias. The flavours are so complex its like trying to watch a regatta from a far shore – you can’t make out the individual vessels but you know they’re all pretty much heading in the same direction.

The texture is up to their usual standard, very fine, crisp and melts wonderfully in the mouth. If you haven’t tried Parlus dark chocolate then you really should give it a go. I know many will bualk at the price. But if you use the Chocolate Trading Co. Discount Code: EEORG12 then you can save 12% off all your spend there!!

The appearance of the bar is just the same of the others in this range. The bars have a different colour packaging when they come from different plantations. And this one is a bright yellow one.

It’s very difficult for me to speak so highly of this, especially as I’ve tried some very average chocolate lately, but this Pralus Madagascar dark chocolate bar is fantastic!

Rating:

Taste: 90% – its very unusual, delightful and will offer something very different to the usual dark chocolate bars.

Texture: 85% – their usual fantastic crispy break and lovely melt.

Appearance: 80% – I love how they brand the range but differentiate with colour.

Nutritional Information: 60% – there’s sufficient there.

Price: 65% – its not cheap, but its worth it!

Overall: 76%

You can buy direct from Chocolate Trading Co. online.
