Little Debbie’s Fudge Rounds

When I was away I bought these Fudge Rounds which are made by Little Debbie in the USA. I thought they were biscuits, but when I got them out of their individual wrappers they were actually more like soft cakes. At first they were out of date, but on checking the packaging the best before date was 17th November 2009. Very strange!

I bought a big box of eight for $3.19 which works out to be about £1.90 – a princely sum for an untested box of biscuits! It was the packaging that made me buy them, however. They do look absolutely amazing and perfect for a lunch time snack after a heavy morning’s work. Alas, my thoughts of a chocolate snack sensation were misplaced. Not only were they softer than the new duck down duvet I’ve just bought, but they were extremely sweet and the fudge creme that is present between the two “biscuits” was a bit of a non-event.

For me there are plenty of other chocolate biscuits that you could try when you’re out and about that you should probably give these a miss. You can always get Maryland cookies anywhere and there’s often Fox’s or Boasters too.

As a very quick rating. I’d give them 20% – yep, they were that bad!

    Lee,
I have to tell you that I do not doubt your specimens, which appear old, do not do justice to the beauty that is the Fudge Round. You also paid a very hefty price for them (here in the States, I can buy the box of 8 for $.99 all day long). Old or chilled Fudge Rounds are disappointing, but fresh, room temperature or slightly warmed ones are outstanding! The creme in the center does seem to vary between lots, but usually there is more than enough to satisfy. This is one of my two favorite Little Debbie cakes. In fact, I just polished one off! :-)
