Hotel Chocolat Vintage Milk Chocolate Buttons

One thing I love about Hotel Chocolat is their ability to come up with fantastically original chocolate. Now chocolate buttons are nothing original, they’ve been around for decades at least. But these Vintage Milk Chocolate Buttons are something different. They’re faithful replicas of buttons from the 18th, 19th and early 20th century – and delightful with it.

To me the standard milk chocolate that Hotel Chocolat make is has a distinct taste of honey. It could be me but every time I eat it I get that slight tangy after taste. I’m not complaining, I absolutely love it. But if you’re buying for someone that expects the usual, high-sugar, fair – they may be a bit surprised.

Well this box of vintage chocolate buttons costs just £6 and it you get three layers of chocolate buttons which adds up to 18 in total and I’d imagine they’d be lovely to have beside you with a hot cup of cocoa and watching your favourite soap – bliss! Well the other half is having a friend over so I’ll leave them in the living room and see how many are left (I’ve had the one layer to myself).

There’s no point going into detail about the aroma and packaging as these Vintage Milk Chocolate Buttons are bit of fun and not one’s to be savoured, unlike the 72% Darck chocolate with Chilli and Cocoa Nibs Purist Bar I’m going to leave for another occasion.

Rating:
Taste: 70% – Hotel Chocolat milk chocolat is a session chocolate, delightful but not a gourmet one
Texture: 70% – The little buttons are very enjoyable and has a nice crisp snap for a milk chocolate
Price: 65% – At £6 for 18 there’s not a massive amount for your money, but they do make a great treat
