I’m following the tasting of this Hotel Chocolat Dark Chocolate With Chilli & Cocoa Nibs Purist Chocolate Bar after reviewing the gorgeous William Curley Framboise Truffles which is a completely different bread entirely! This chilli bar is dark and powerful, while the truffles are light and delicate. But both are similar in one way: they’re both absolutely fantastic!
As with all Hotel Chocolat Chocolates, the Hotel Chocolat Dark Chocolate With Chilli & Cocoa Nibs Purist Chocolate Bar really shows that you’re just about to try some fantastically well put together chocolate.
When you actually open up the foil wrapping within you’re met with an aroma that belies the actual flavour you’ll be getting as there’s no hint of the chilli undertones that’ll you’ll enjoy. These flavours are no where near as punchy as the Fruit & Spice Chilli Chocolate from South Devon, the extremely hot Pleasure & Pain Dark Chocolate bar made with Naga Jolokia chillies but is more on a par with the Montezuma’s Chilli & Lime Milk chocolate bar, but obviously a much darker flavour.
I thoroughly enjoyed this bar as it not only combined the two flavours I like – dark chocolate and chilli, but also had a wonderfully crispy texture from the cocoa nibs.
It’s difficult to actually picture a situation to enjoy this chocolate bar as it’s a fully-packed event in itself. The texture and flavour are powerful in themselves so I wouldn’t put it together with any sort of wine, but perhaps you can counterbalance it with a nice fruity fizz drink?
I just love the Hotel Chocolat Purist chocolate bars and if you’re into your dark chocolate then you’ve really got to give this one a go.
