Hotel Chocolat Puddles
26 May 2009 in Chocolate For Children, Hotel Chocolat by LeeHeaven, I’m in Heaven! These Hotel Chocolat Puddles may cost £4.50 for 140g but I can say they’re absolutely worth every penny. I got my hands on the Raspberry Rippled Puddles, Rhubarb & Custard Puddles and the Citrus Puddles – the Salted Caramel Puddles didn’t appeal then, but I’m sure I’ll buy myself some over summer.
The first one I tried was the Raspberry Ripple Puddles which was quite sweet and fruity (obviously) but it goes exceptionally well with the Rhubarb and Custard Puddles which has a mild taste sensation when you first eat them, but then goes fantastically zingy. But the pink raspberry puddles would also go well with a mild lemonade sat in the garden or even a Pimms.
The citrus ones actually do remind me of summer as a kid, out in the garden eating sweets and having fun, without a care in the world. And that’s what these treats are for, I feel. They’re not one’s to sit back and think about textures and complex flavours, they’re purely there to enjoy for what they are – little puddles of sun. And if there’s no sun around, then you can sit in doors with a cuppa and a movie, imagining you were somewhere else.
Now the most important question is whether I should hide these and have them all to myself, or let the other half snaffle them all? Well, they’re being wrapped up and put to the back of the chocolate fridge so no-one else will find them!
Rating:
Taste: 75% – for a mindless piece of fruity white chocolate munching you really can’t find anything better!
Texture: 70% – I’m not sure what makes them fizzy but I’m sure there’s a slight grittiness. But you shouldn’t notice that. I only did as I have to try and concentrate on every feature to review them.
Price: 65% – a touch pricey. But if you’ve got friends coming over, or having a garden party, then they’re a must. However, you can save £1.50 if you buy three packs.
Overall: 70% – awesome, buy some now for the weekend!

[...] just love fruit flavoured white chocolate like the Hotel Chocolat Puddles as the sharpness and acidity of the fruit works exceptionally well with the mellow white chocolate. [...]
