Hotel Chocolat Pink Champagne Truffles
10 May 2009 in Chocolate Truffles, Hotel Chocolat, Rating 75%-79%, Valentines Day Chocolates by LeeI tried the Charbonnel et Walker Pink Champagne Truffles the week and they were exceptionally nice. There nice and mild, whilst these Hotel Chocolate Pink Champagne Truffles are for those that like their chocolate treats to have a bit of a kick to them!
First off, the pink packaging looks as though you should be finding some gorgeous, sexy underwear when you open it up. You’re obviously met with 8 small, pink Champagne truffles which look so unassuming. The flavour, however, will really hit you.
I don’t know if I should say this as it may put you off, but the aroma reminded me as cheap Tesco’s bread that you’ve left out for a week. However, as that subsides you get an inviting strawberry nose sensation.
As you bit in you’ll notice the truffle filling is actually a lot more moist that the Charbonnel et Walker variation, and I would say a lot sweeter too. As you chew on the truffle you’ll be hit with a strong champagne flavour that really took me aback – I really wasn’t expecting it to be so strong. I’m complaining as they would be fantastic to sit down with after a hard day’s work with a glass of really champagne or non-fizzy white wine.
Also if you’re a vegetarian, you can enjoy these as there’s nothing in it to worry you. However, it does contain Milk, Soya, Alcohol and may also contain traces of nuts. But one thing it definitely does contain, and that’s 100% satisfaction.
So if you’re having a girly night in, then you’ve got to get a few boxes of these as you really won’t regret it.
Rating:
Taste: 80% – I know I shouldn’t like them, but I do!
Texture: 80% – crunchy outside, soft inside
Price: 65% – at £6 for a box of eight its slightly expensive, but you’re not buying rubbish!
Overall: 75%
If these Hotel Chocolate Pink Champagne Truffles were a song they would be: “It’s Raining Men” – The Weather Girls
