I bought these Hot Cross Bun Chocolate Truffles from All Present on a whim, expecting them to be fairly large and liable to satisfy my chocolate cravings for a couple of hours. Not so. You actually get two boxes of chocolate truffles, each the size of a pack of cards. It is my own fault, however. I should have read the description more thoroughly and seen that they were only 140g in total.

If you look at the picture on their website it sure makes the truffles look bigger than they are. I don’t know why, but I thought they’d be the size of actual hot cross buns. But if I can put that disappointment to one side and concentrate on the flavour …
… That bit is ok. They taste very sweet, but do, somehow, manage to get the flavour of hot cross buns. I honestly looked at the ingredients and there aren’t any flavours that I could think of that would give that spicy flavour. There are a million other things like “Mono-and-Di-Glycerides” and Potassium Sorbate, UHT Whipping Cream and the such like. Yikes, this is so different to the Beschle Carenero Superior I tasted yesterday!
And it gets worse. Not content with a chemilcally taste, these truffles will set you back £11.99 plust postage – which makes them twice the price of one of the best bars of dark chocolate you’ll try this year.
