I received these hand baked Belgian Chocolate Brownies yesterday from a lady called Jenny Hudson who runs a bakery in Warwickshire called Sweet As and if I had to describe it one word then all I can say is: SENSATIONAL!
The box that the large chocolate brownie that you’re meant to cut up into six (but feel free to munch straight from the tin tray) definitely reflects the home baked-feel well. As you open the box you’re met with a large chocolate brownie slab that also shows that its “home baked” and not in factory where if the produce isn’t of a perfect size and consistency then it would discarded. This is gorgeously natural.
As you remove it from the cellophane wrapping that preserves it you’ll get a very strong chocolate brownie that will just get your taste buds tantalised and ready to gorge on this chocolate feast.
One of the important features of a good chocolate brownie, to my mind, is that it must be moist, soft and doesn’t dry your mouth out. I tried it both at room temperature and refrigerated and I’m still not sure how its best served. At room temperature its fantastically moist and reminded me of those Gu puddings on the Marks and Spenser advert – I had to stop myself finishing it off. And this morning I’m trying it again refrigerated and there’s definitely something nice about having it cold. However you have it, I’m sure you’ll enjoy it as it just fills your mouth with chocolatey heaven.
The flavour is almost perfect too. When I say almost perfect I mean perfect would make you roll your eyes back and melt into the sofa. This is nearly there. It’s something you’ll be thinking about on your way home from a hard day at work savouring that first bite. Every knotty muscle in your body will relax, your feet will go up and you will breath a huge sigh of relief you finish that first piece and you go for your second.
Rating:
Taste: 95% – not too sweet, but totally chocolaty
Texture: 95% – almost perfect, soft, melty and just occupies your mouth with delight
Price: 90% – it’s just £6. I tell you, its a fantastically good price!
Overall: 93.33% – the best chocolate pudding, Easter egg or bar of chocolate I’ve tasted this year (I’ve reviewed about 100 Easter eggs)
If these Hand Baked Belgian Chocolate Brownies were a song they would be: “Perfection” Dannii Minogue
