Halloween Chocolates

I’m normally tight when it comes to Halloween. I’ll turn the lights off, go in to the back room and make sure that any kids that come-a-knocking don’t get anything out of me. But after thinking about my Scrooge-like ways, I’ve decided to give some nice Halloween chocolates to the kids if they’re nice. I’ll also give my wife-to-be some nice Halloween chocolates, and if they’re lucky some of my friends will get some too.

The thing is, I’ve been talking to the guys at Hotel Chocolat have shown me a link to some of their upcoming range of Halloween chocolate gifts and I got all a bit excited.

I know I love top quality chocolate, but I also love gimmicky stuff too. So I thought I’ll have a look at what’s about currently for those looking for Halloween chocolate gifts and I’ll try and keep it updated as I find more, and, of course, get more chocolate through the post to review.

First up we have Hotel Chocolat who always come up with fantastically original stuff, and this year its no different. Ok, so this year they’ve got the Boo Boxes again which are 180g boxes of chocolate skulls, tombstones, ghosts, fingers and bats which are individually wrapped and perfect for a Halloween or to use as non-cheap trick or treat chocolates. But when you look at the fact that they’re £7.50 a box or £20 for two boxes then you’ll probably keep them for your own children or grandchildren.

They’ve also got Halloween Tablets which come in packs of four and are 65g each. They’re like fairly weighty tombstones and other horrible Halloween type things – including ghosts. If you think you’d pay about 80p to a pound for the cheapest chocolate for that sort of weight individually, it’ll give you a clue as to quality of the chocolate. I had some of their stuff for Father’s Day (from the nice guys there) and even their basic range of chocolate was very nice indeed. So don’t worry about paying a bit more, as ites well worth it.

Just like the lollies which were awesome, they’ve done the same sort of thing, but as skulls. The lollies were good value, and I fully expect the “Yikes! 4 Skull Licks” to be just as good!

I haven’t seen these before, but they’ve started to do “Yummy Bones” which are prefect for Halloween parties to scare the kids. It’s a life-sized chocolate skull made from 40% milk chocolate so it’ll be nice and mild. I’m just not sure how the kids will tuck in to it – but I’ll be fun watching! At £15, I expect this will be the centre-piece of any kids Halloween party.

If you wanted a bit of an assortment, but didn’t want to pay too much then why not consider the “Halloween Pick-Me-Up Gift Bag” for only £10 and includes a some Halloween shapes, a milk chocolate figure of a ghoul and a white chocolate skull lick?

In the summer I reviewed the absolutely fantastic Citrus fruit puddles which were out of this world, and so I’m definitely looking forward to the Pumpkin Munchkins which are zesty Orange balls of white chocolate – now I’m seriously looking forward to these and are very good value at just £4.50.

If you were buying for a big family or just a party then you could get the The Box of Halloween Chocolate Horrors which includes Milk Chocolate Figures, Ghoulish Ghost, Fiendish Finger and Terrifying Tombstone Tablets, 2 x Milk Chocolate Skull Licks, 2 x White Chocolate Skull Licks, a bag of Pumpkin Munchkins and Milk, Caramel & White Chocolate Tiddly Pot Buttons.

There’s also Chocolate Trading Co. which currently have a selection of bulk / wholesale sized Halloween chocolate selections to choose from. they’ve got 20 Chocolate Ghosts, 20 Chocolate Spiders, 20 Chocolate Pumpkins, 20 Chocolate Witches and an assorted bag of Halloween chocolates. I’m expecting to get hold of some of these to review and also for them to extend the range of Halloween chocolate gifts they’re adding to the site. I expect they’ll be doing this before the end of September.

A Quarter Of have a good selection too which are probably more suited as Trick or Treat chocolates as they’ve got Cheeky Chocolate Pumpkins, Chunky Chocolate Pumpkins, Dinky Chocolate Skulls, Psycho Skulls, Spooky Chocolate Spider Balls, Squirting Skulls. I’ve ordered some of these so it’ll be good to see what they’re like and how many you get for the quarter of a kilo.

If you’re looking for massive amounts of Halloween chocolates and trick or treat chocolate gifts then you really shouldn’t look much further than Chocolate Buttons as they have a huge selection from milk chocolate pumpkin lollies, foil coated chocolate monsters and the such like.

Not On The Highstreet have a small selection of Halloween chocolate gifts which you may like, including small chocolate pumpkins, chocolate witches.
