I wish I read the label clearly before I bought these chocolates. Not being the biggest caramel fan, I was very disappointed to crunch into these and get a dribble of caramel on my tongue. These Liquid Caramel Chocs are no where near as good as the Gu Chocolate Brownies or the 3 Gu Cheeky Little Chocolate Fondants.
I bought these for £2.99 from Waitrose (I think) and with there being 21 in there that works out at a staggering 14p each. I’m struggling to think that that’s good value for money.
The crunchy shell is very nice indeed, I can’t fault that. If you’re a caramel lover then I’m sure you’ll enjoy the filling. But my feeling is that the solid exterior doesn’t go well with the very liquid interior. It’s a bit of a shame as I was looking forward to them very much.
You can buy them from both Tesco and Waitrose for £2.99.
Rating:
Taste: 50% – not up to their usual standards
Texture: 40% – the solid and liquid didn’t work
Appearance: 90% – they do look fabulous however.
Nutritional information: 50% – you only get ingredient percentages.
Overall: 57.5% – shock, horror – a Gu chocolate creation I didn’t like!
