Fruit & Spice Chilli Chocolate

I picked up this Fruit & Spice Chilli Chocolate from Goodness Direct for a not considerable £3.08 but boy is it worth it.

On opening the packet you’ll be met with a quite strong cinnamon aroma which I was worried about as I thought it’d taste too much of Christmas for a May reviewing. But when I actually tasted it, it was delicious.

There’s a strange combination of flavours all fighting for your attention. At first you’re met by the raison sultanas which subsides into a chocolate with nutmeg taste and then the chilli taste slowly builds up in to a crescendo which really attacks your taste buds! I certainly wouldn’t recommend this for someone that doesn’t like chilli. Some chilli chocolates are fairly mild like the Montezuma’s Chilli & Lime milk chocolate bar or the Conscious Chilli Chocolate Bar, this isn’t, but its certainly milder than the Very hot dark chocolate bar from Handy Candy.

It looks like the South Devon Chilli Farm make a good number of chocolate products, as well as Chilli ones which I can review on my Chilli blog including Chilli Drinking Chocolate. Take a peak for yourself.

Rating:
Taste: 80% – the cinnamon was a bit too evident for me, but the chilli and sultanas worked exceptionally well together.
Texture: 75% – I just love fruit in chocolate as you also get a nice texture, I can’t fault this.
Price: 65% – it is slightly expensive, but it is handmade and has ingredients sourced from the UK.
Overall: 73.33%
