Domori Puertofino Cacao Criollo 70% Dark Chocolate

I bought this Domori 70% Dark Chocolate from Chocolate Trading Co. for the not inconsiderable sum of £3.50. At 70% its the perfect dark chocolate for those that want to turn the cocoa dial down a touch from chocolate such as the 85% Dark Chocolate Bar or the Pralus Bresil 75% Cocoa but still want to try a fantastic dark chocolate.

They say the best things come in small packages and it’s never been more true than when describing this chocolate bar. At 25g its not going to last a whole evening, however if you want to have your taste buds tantalised rather than just a simple sugar fix which a cheap bar of Galaxy would do then you should have a bar of the Domori Puertofino 70% in your cupboard ready and waiting.

The first thing you’ll notice about the Domori Puertofino is its soft delicate texture which is matched by a sensuous flavour. Each taste seems to be different, the most recent flavours I witnessed were that of Pepsi and tobacco – but don’t hold that against the chocolate. On a different pass you may also get a slight peppermint and fig. That’s what I love about the Domori Puertofino – it lets your chocolate wishes come true. I wouldn’t say that it has an ultimately complex flavour palette, just a surprising one that I’m sure that many of you would enjoy.

Rating:

Taste: 85% – soft, delicate, surprising

Texture: 85% – you can’t fault the texture, its very smooth with a fantastic consistency

Appearance: 70% – the packaging did remind me of a pack of French cigarillos and they didn’t make a huge effort in the mould.

Nutritional Information: 65% – not a whole load of information available.

Price: 70% – not the cheapest bar ever, but the quality is fantastic.

Overall: 75% – well worth trying.
