Here’s a paradox for you. I actually prefer Divine’s milk chocolate over their dark chocolate which I feel has a strange edge to it. And another thing, even though I don’t often like orange chocolate, I found this one absolutely amazing. I’m just going to see if I feel ok!
I got this bar from Ethical Superstore for just £1.49 as I thought I should be reviewing more milk chocolate. And I’m glad I did.
I liked the “Story of Divine” that you get on the inside of the wrapper, but feel that most people won’t be interested, well, not until they’ve finished the bar.
The orange aroma is very strong when you unwrap it, however it does smell much nicer than the Terry’s Chocolate Oranges as will most probably make you want to dive straight in.
I’ve left this one out of my chocolate fridge for a couple of days to soften up. Even though its not the hotest its been this year, its gone a real nice almost melting texture which I fel brings the flavours out more and makes milk chocolate more enjoyable. The texture was very agreeable and did melt very easily in my mouth.
The flavour was much more mellow than I anticipated. There’s no powerful notes to it at all. The Divine orange milk chocolate bar is the sort of chocolate bar that you could easily munch through and not realise.
There’s not a great deal to bang on about with this bar. It’s nice, pleasant, but nothing overly special. But you didn’t really expect anything for a bar that cost just £1.49. For all that, however, I do feel its fantastic value for money. If you were shopping at Ethical Superstore anyway I’d definitely add this one to my shopping basket.
Rating:
Taste: 70% – a sweet alternative for those that prefer milk chocolate. The orange taste is well balanced and doesn’t dominate.
Texture: 75% – I just loved the soft nature of the bar. Make sure that you don’t eat it refrigerated.
Appearance: 65% – sometimes I feel that Divine chocolate has a bit of a bland design. But the theme that runs through their packaging isn’t all that bad actually. The bar inside, however, isn’t all that imaginative, like some bars such as the Pralus Bresil.
Nutritional Information: 80% – there’s plenty there to keep you occupied
Price: 85% – its great value
Overall: 75% – well worth trying!
