About the same time as I bought the dark chocolate from Cornwall I visited the South Devon Chilli Farm and bought some Coffee Bean Chilli Chocolate.
I’m in love with the Chilli farm though, the shop is tiny at about 4 metres square, but its packed full of delightful chilli goodies, including a whole load of original chocolate. There was just so much to choose from, and as I’ve already tried the Fruit & Spice Chilli Chocolate I’d go for the coffee flavour one as I know from experience that I just love coffee flavoured chocolate.
I most certainly wasn’t disappointed. The aroma when you unpeal the front label really knocks you for six as it is beautifully aromatic. This just draws you in and want to pour out the contents (I couldn’t remember if there were originally in bits or got bashed up on the way home!).
The flavour is absolutely sensational and works in two stages. Firstly you’re met with a fantastically soft and rounded coffee flavour and then the strong chilli taste pushes through and grabs you by your dedicates to consume every taste bud you have in your mouth. It truly is a marvel of chocolate!
I’m trying to gauge from memory how strong the chilli flavour is. From what I can recall, its definitely stronger than the Tipyn Bach chilli chocolate, the vegan chilli chocolate, the Hotel Chocolat variation, certainly better than the Sainsbury Taste The Difference Mexican 66% bar, but not as hot as the Pleasure and Pain bar!
I’m going to take what’s left of this bar to poker this week and see what they say, I’m sure they’ll love it as much as me!
Rating:
Taste: 87% – I just loved it, but you can have too much. It does start to get a bit too much after a few mouthfuls – in a good way, however.
Texture: 75% – I can’t fault it, nice and crispy
Appearance: 75% – It definitely looks nice and original. The information is clear and the chocolate looks apertising.
Price: 65% – At £3.30 its not too expensive. Being handmade it obviously costs more to make.
Overall: 75.5%
You can buy it from the South Devon Chilli Farm
