I know I’m being a bit premature thinking of stocking fillers, so you could say that this Chocolate Calculator that Red5 sent me to try out would make a great birthday present for someone that loved chocolate a little too much. But it is a cool little gift.
At £3 you can’t really expect anything major, you wouldn’t expect packaging to match the expensive chocolates that get reviewed here on a regular occasions, but this little chocolate calculator does a good job of mimicking the usual chocolate, without breaking any trademark rules.
Well its 11cm by 6cm so it’s not too big and wouldn’t take up too much space on anyone’s desk and could be easily kept in a locked drawer to make sure that your colleagues don’t nab it whilst you’re at lunch.
What I didn’t realise whilst looking at it, until a few minutes later was that it does have a chocolate aroma. I’ve got loads of chocolate in my office so it’s not a criticism of the chocolate calculator, but when you hold it up to have a look at it you do get a sort of hot chocolate aroma that did make me want to reach for a bar. This is the problem. If you’re your buying it for someone that loves chocolate a little too much, the aroma coming off this would surely only make them want some more chocolate.
I do my own accounts but I only seem to use the”-” button and occasionally the “+” in a good month, so I’m not too concerned about not having all those groovy functions that a scientific calculator has. So if you’re looking for a calculator suitable for most normal people, and not the new Chancellor of the Exchequer then this calculator would do the job just fine.
I actually do like it, but I’m tempted to let my wife take it to work. Overall, if you’re looking for a cheap stocking filler, or a groovy little gift for a girlfriend or wife, then try this, or anything else on the Red5 website.
