I bought these Chocochic Italian Indulge Panna Cotta And Hazelnut Chocolate Truffles from Waitrose as they were on sale for £1.79 – the usual price is a staggering £5.49. Even though I was in the fairly well-off area of Buxton I don’t feel that even people with a few bob to spare were willing to spend that much!
The box itself is very nice and they do look as they could be special, but as they were fully boxed up there was no way of seeing exactly what you’re getting. The description was fairly vague and probably meant that people would probably choose some of the other fantastic chocolates on offer.
Indeed, I was surprised to find the 12 individually wrapped chocolates inside. One row was the hazelnut variety and the other the Panna Cotta.
Although neither of them bowled me over with their flavour or aroma, they did taste very nice and I went back for second helpings. The hazelnut ones were lovely and crunchy whilst the panna cotta chocolates were delightfully smooth, but a tad too sweet for me.
All in all I’d say they’re worth around £3.99 but definitely not £5.49 at which price you could by a much larger box of chocolates of a type that you already know what you’re going to get.
