Charles Hazelnut Chocolate Bar

The Charles Hazelnut Chocolate Bar was another from my random selection of chocolate bars I picked up in Barbados. Unlike the Almond Joy, this does actually come from the Caribbean.

However, my holiday would have been slightly tarnished if I tried it over there. The packaging does look appealing and the price acceptable at around 90p (BD$2,90) but the taste was far from delightful.

The aroma just reminded me of Nutella, which I suppose is no bad thing. Whilst the aroma had a very slight rum taste which descended into a bit of a raisins. Perhaps I’m being harsh? The flavour itself wasn’t chocolatey enough. This is something I can cope with if the other flavours counter-balanced. But with this I didn’t notice any strong hazelnut flavour.

The texture was slightly gritty, but then you expect that if it contains nut pieces.

Rating:
Taste: 60% – its started to grow on me now. But there’s no umpphh to it.
Texture: 55% – a bit too gritty for me
Price: 40% – it was fairly expensive for what you get
Overall: 51.66%

If you did want to buy some then you can contact the manufacturers: Charles Candy or visit (any excuse) them at their offices – Bhagowtie Trace, El Socorro, Trinidad, West Indies. Phone: (868) 638-4006 Telefax: (868) 674-8089.
