Montezumas Organic Milk Chocolate Buttons

I had hoped for some more flavoursome chocolate buttons and some to compete with the Hotel Chocolat ones, but alas, these fell short on the flavour stakes. But they're still much better than those scarily expensive ones from the Royston-based chocolate company.

Mast Brothers Pecan and Maple

For me this bar didn't work, there wasn't enough of the syrup flavour to counteract the very dry texture which was made more so by the pecan nuts. They've made far better chocolate.

Idilio Origins Selection Cata Ocumare

This Idiolio Origins Selection Cata Ocumare with Cocoa Nibs should have offered so much more, alas it came across as far too mild. I loved the texture and the aroma, it was just lacking in terms of flavour.

My Chocolate Bar Lemon Truffles

It's a shame that you can't buy these online any more as they're nice, but not as enjoyable as most of their other truffles that I've enjoyed.

I can't say these truffles are my most favourite I've ever tried purely because they're very sweet. I prefer them to be more creamy and have less sugar.

This L'Artisan du Chocolat O Magic Collection was far below what I expected in terms of flavour and experience. However, there can be no criticism of the ingredients, its just that the flavours of the jam weren't allowed to take centre stage at all which is a shame as I expect them to be fantastic.

These Jean-Paul Hévin Caramel Milk Chocolate Drops were far too sweet for my own taste. The dark chocolate ones were very nice, but these a bit rich.

Prestat Praline Chocolate Truffles

Truffles are the staple of so many chocolate companies, but they're so often not given the love and attention that they should be. These come across as nothing special to be honest, even though they do well at not coming across as too intense, they just don't have enough flavour to really get me excited about them.

Pralus Caracas 75%

I've got to say that this Pralus Caracas 75% isn't anywhere near as good as their previous bars. It uses Venezuelan cacao along with some from Ghana - which I don't think does it any credit.

Valrhona Abinao 85%

This bar is a blend of African cacao but doesn't seem to offer any mellow, caramel flavour that one might expect, instead its has a sharp plum flavour and really not much else.

Chocolate Pumpkin – The Yumpkin

Perhaps not the finest chocolate treat from Hotel Chocolat, but I'm sure children will love them. But I just feel that Hotel Chocolat offer much better Halloween chocolate in their range.

Betty’s Grand Cru Swiss 65%

This 65% dark chocolate from Betty's made with Felchlin couverture was sweet and bland. I just prefer dark chocolate to have bit more personality - it was lacking here.

Amelia Rope 70% Ghana Single Origin

Amelia's other dark chocolate bars have been very good, I just felt that this one was a touch too sweet and lacking in any depth.

They're all-right I suppose, just nothing fantastic. They were supposed to be dark chocolate, but there was no bitterness about them. Sigh.

This bar could have done with a more prominent coffee flavour and a fair bit less of the sugar. At first it tasted really good, but then the sugar came through and pushed the espresso off the stage and demanded your attention.

I don't think I'd hunt out the Patrick Roger 100% bar again. It may not be as bitter as the Michel Cluizel Noir Infini 99%, but it still doesn't offer enough flavour for my liking.
