Ananda Mentally Mint Dark Chocolate

When I tried chocolate made by small companies trying to do something different and with ethics then I feel a displeased when I don't actually like some chocolate I've reviewed and that's the case with this bar.

Matcha Chocolat Selection

This selection box of unusual flavours from Matcha Chocolat is very interesting and utterly delicious. Some chocolatiers feel they can't be adventurous as they have to produce by committee. Katie does a great job breaking the mould and not being restricted to the same old flavours that many other chocolatiers offer.

Artisan du Chocolat Panama 70% Bar

Very much like the general wonderful chocolate that Artisan du Chocolat create. Somehow they manage to produce chocolate with great character and intrigue.

Paul A. Young 70% Guanaja

When it comes to coverture bars there's always the problem of does the bar offer more when bought by the maker themselves? In this instance I would say so, but that may be tarnished by the fact that this bar was out of date.

Cadbruy’s Screme Egg

The Cadbury's Screme Egg was always going to be far too sweet and hardly any different from the normal Creme egg, but why change something that works for so many people? I'm sure school play grounds at lunch time will be full of children munching away on them.

Hotel Chocolat 100% Hacienda iara

Chocolate at this sort of level just isn't for me, you might like it, but ... well nothing really. I wonder how much Hotel Chocolat actually sell of it?

Duffy’s 70% Star of Panama

Duffy always makes awesome chocolate, it's assured as the sun rising the next day. But just like the weather, every day is different, and so is every bar. I prefer his other Panama bar, but this is still fantastic.

Cadbury Olympics Chocolate – Mandeville & Wenlock

To be honest, there's nothing original with these Olympics chocolate treats. They're just filled with bubbly chocolate and that's about. Nothing worth really getting excited about.

Chocolate Pumpkin – The Yumpkin

Perhaps not the finest chocolate treat from Hotel Chocolat, but I'm sure children will love them. But I just feel that Hotel Chocolat offer much better Halloween chocolate in their range.

Jeff de Bruges 43% Venezuelan

I'm not exactly sure what I expected from this bar. Milk chocolate is such a strange beast that it can so easily turn into a saccharine cloud hovering over you. This doesn't go that far, its very milky, which some people will enjoy, I'm just in two minds - unfortunately.

Cadbury’s Wishes

If you like very sweet confectionery then you'll like this chocolate star from Cadbury's. Just don't buy it if you prefer your chocolate to have a more adult flavour.

Artisan du Chocolat Rooibos

If you're looking for a milk bar but with something a little bit more interesting about it than the usual fair then you should try this one out.

Baratti e Milano Extra Fondente

This Baratti e Milano Extra Fondente has to be one of the worst bars I've tried this year as the flavours just didn't work well together.

Hotel Chocolat The Chocolate Tasting Club

Variety is the spice of life they say. But even selection boxes can be boring. But when you get them in the form of a Tasting Club box of chocolates then you can't go wrong.

Betty’s Grand Cru Swiss 65%

This 65% dark chocolate from Betty's made with Felchlin couverture was sweet and bland. I just prefer dark chocolate to have bit more personality - it was lacking here.

Quality Street My Purple Bar

So I didn't actually expect a great deal better from this bar given that is is made by Nestle, but I didn't think it could be this devoid of flavour.

Mint Aero Christmas Tree

Of course Mint Aeros aren't the best chocolate you've ever tasted - probably nothing from Nestle would be. But they've got a market and they do a good job of supplying people with sweet confectionary.

Бабаевский горький шоколад

Certainly not a chocolate that you'd want to travel all the way to Russia to try.

Thorntons Bakewell Tart

If you love sweet, flavoured milk chocolate that you can easily get hold of, then you've got to try this Bakewell Tart milk chocolate bar from Thorntons.

Rococo Crystallised Ginger 65%

Do you like chocolate that only has the mildest of flavours but still has personality? If you do then you should really try this one out from Rococo.

Nestlé Gold Éclats de Cacao 64%

I shouldn't really bother reading the review, it wasn't very nice, and there are many, far nicer bars out there to try - even with cocoa nibs in them.

Hotel Chocolat Chuao

When it comes to the Chuao I'm a bit of a purist. It just didn't taste like the others, or have the same feel. But I could just be wrong about it.

Artisan du Chocolat Costa Rica 72%

Another example of beautiful chocolate made with cacao from Costa Rica, this one had a lovely variety of flavours through out the melt. If you're near one of their stores and like chocolate with personality then try it.

Amedei Bianco

Is there any white chocolate that actually tastes nice and doesn't take you back to those teenage days of feeling like you've over-indulged on cheap chocolate? Well yes, even though its white chocolate it still was very nice.

Amedei Toscano Red

Amedei are supposed to make awesome stuff. But trying this Toscano Red just proved that you can't please someone all the time. Some people will absolutely love its intense fruit flavours, but I just didn't.

Michel Cluizel 99% and 85% Ganaches

These Michel Cluizel 99% and 85% Ganaches are perfectly fine, but ultimately nothing sensational.

Zotter Congo 65%

For those of you chocoholics that love to try something which is just a little bit different, but not as far out as the Zotter funky stuff, then this really should be one for you to try.

Sir Hans Sloane Dark Drinking Chocolate Beads

When it comes to a pick me up after a hard, stressful day at work, there's nothing better than a hot cup of choc to sooth away those mental blockages and unwind. And there's no better way to do that than with these beads from Sir Hans Sloane.

Artisan du Chocolat Bali

There's just something fantastic with what Artisan du Chocolat are doing these days when they source cacao from destinations the less adventurous chocolate makers can't be bothered to explore. The flavour of this Bali bar was incredibly interesting.

Double Dipped Honey Crunch from Good Kind of Food

Far too often honeycomb confectionery can be too sweet. Thankfully this from Good Kind of Food had a more bitter, earthy side to it.

Thorntons Cloudly Lemonade White Chocolate

When one things of white chocolate I'm sure many would think of an intense sugar and vanilla flavour. But with this bar that combination of flavours is kept to a minimum. Instead there is a fresh earthiness to it which was very pleasant.

Rum & Blackcurrant, Dark Chocolate & Ginger And Limoncello Truffles

If you're having a dinner party or a summer garden party then you really need to try the chocolate truffles made by Pauline and Mark from Andover. I've been a big fan of their's for a long while and always interested to hear what they're concocting next. I'm sure you'll love these truffles if you either like alcoholic truffles or fruity flavours.

Naked Cocoa Orange Premium Fruit & Nut Bar

When it comes to raw chocolate then there's an increasing choice on the internet, but not so much in the high street. At last a company is pushing back the boundaries and making it more accessible.

Valrhona Guanaja 70% Grand Crus

This Grands Crus from Valrhona using single origin Guanaja cacao of the Trinitario Criollo varieties promised much but didn't actually deliver much. There was hardly any flavour to speak of a complete lack of drama. Valrhona built their name on the back of excellent chocolate, but don't match those heights with this bar.

Magic Choc – Non Melting Chcolate

Whether you'd pay £5.99 to occupy your children for an hour or so over the school holidays is up to you, but for me I thought it was fairly good value for money. Although I did find it difficult to mould into shape at first.

pourtoi Handmade Chocolate Cookies

You know you’re having a good day when a very heavy box containing ten chocolate cookies are delivered to you. The problem is that I’m too damn distracted by them to actually type anything more … OK, now I’ve finished the first one I’ll continue. My biggest downfall isn’t...

Rococo Mixed Chocolates Medium Ballotin Box

Rococo are absolutely fantastic chocolatiers and if you ever get a chance to try their chocolates then you most certainly should do!

Soma Chocolate 70% Chuao

This Soma 70% dark chocolate bar is made out of cacao from the well-renowned village of Chuao in Venezuela. It's supposed to be produce some of the finest cacao in the world. That may be the case, but this wasn't the finest bar of chocolate.

Marc Demarquette’s Nutkeeper’s Caramels

The general type of chocolate caramels that I get to try are ones that are excessively sticky and gooey where the contents don't actually allow the flavour of the chocolate to come through - these do. Marc has done an awesome job with the Nutkeeper's aramels.

Amelia Rope 70% Ghana Single Origin

Amelia's other dark chocolate bars have been very good, I just felt that this one was a touch too sweet and lacking in any depth.

Chocolate Cigarettes

There is just no good reason why you would ever want to buy these chocolate cigarettes. They were just horribly sweet and didn't taste anything like chocolate.

Montezuma’s Lime Pickle

Being Mango, covered in white chocolate - it could have been a fairly mild affair, but when that white chocolate is adulterated with lime and chilli it surely could only be tasty. It was actually much better than that!

Fudge Fancies Selection Box

Sometimes in life you just find something completley different and which you had found them before. And that's most certainly the case with these chocolate fudge petits fours which were totally fantastic. If you like fudge, I'm sure you'll love these!

Montezuma’s Vegan and Organic Chocolate Selection

It's difficult to review vegan chocolates when you're not vegan. I love creamy truffles and that was never going to happen with these ones from Montezuma's. That being said, they were still very pleasant, although a touch flat.

The Chocolate Wizard Selection

These chocolates are a wonderful creation for someone so young. Without going over the top, David has done a great job with these ganaches and if there is anyone who can help him some more coverage that would be great.

Michel Cluizel Noir Au Grue de Cacao

Michel Cluizel has produced a delightful and relaxed bar of chocolate that can easily be enjoyed by the masses. There's no fine, complex flavours just a strange combination of distinctive ones.

Thorntons Chocolate Liqueur

It may be a bit rich for many people, but if you'd appreciate a chocolate alcoholic tipple then I think this should be the one to try!

Limited Edition: Oriente Cuba Terruño de Baracoa

Certainly an interesting bar from Marcolini. It had a lovely cherry flavour but didn't give me the wow factor I was hoping for. It most definitely interesting, but didn't give any sense of complexity I love in fine chocolate.

South Devon Chilli Farm Bhut Jolokia Dark Chocolate

I received two slabs of dark chocolate made with Bhut Jolokia chilies as a batch #1 sample from the South Devon Chilli Farm. I expected it to make me feel ill like the Scorchio bar did, but thankfully it was so much more flavoursome and less faux. I can't wait for this bar to be launched properly.

The World’s Hottest Chocolate Bar

www.chocolatereviews.co.ukI like to try strange chocolate, but nothing will ever make me want to try this bar of chilli chocolate ever again. The heat is ok, but not how it made me feel afterwards! But if you want to buy your loved one something to knock their socks off then you really must give this bar a go!
