Every chocolatier seems to sell chocolate hearts for Valentine's Day, but too few make anything worth taking notice off. Most of them seemingly use the cheapest couverture they can and then sprinkle some ingredients on top. There's nothing original about that.
If you love sweet, flavoured milk chocolate that you can easily get hold of, then you've got to try this Bakewell Tart milk chocolate bar from Thorntons.
Amedei are supposed to make awesome stuff. But trying this Toscano Red just proved that you can't please someone all the time. Some people will absolutely love its intense fruit flavours, but I just didn't.
If you're looking for something completely over-the-top sweet but very enjoyable then you really have to try these butter fudge squares from Fudge Kitchen. I wouldn't try eating more than one at a time though!
Thorntons have become a company that people love to be ambivalent about. That's a shame as many people won't be interested in seeing what they've got to offer. Their Academy of Chocolate Awards should be a reason for people to reassess what they think of Thorntons.
Whether you class yourself as a chocolate aficionado or not, I'm sure a great number of you will find these Valentines Raspberry Hearts From James Chocolates impossible to put down.
These Plush Fairtrade White Chocolate Petals were pretty good, but I would have liked more raspberry flavour. For something to munch on whilst watching a film they were perfect, but not something to concisously enjoy.
For mass-produced chocolate truffles these Godiva Luxury Chocolate Truffles weren't all that bad in terms of how they tasted and value for money. But I don't think I'd buy them again.
The Prestat Heart Of Chocolates was far from being my favourite chocolate selection box and certainly nothing that I'd go out of my way to try again for.
If you're pregnant or just don't drink alcohol but the taste and texture of chocolate truffles then these could be for you as they have a wonderful flavour.
