One of my biggest surprises whilst reviewing chocolate was how good the incredibly cheap J.D. Gross chocolate is. For less than £1 you can have a very nice bar of dark chocolate and not get that sickly feeling that many bars at this price range offer. What I didn’t actually know is that it’s Lidl that make the chocolate and just use the J.D. Gross KÖNIGLICHER HOFLIEFERANT trademark!

So the next time you’re passing a Lidl store and think you’ll never find any decent chocolate in there, just have a little look and get yourself a couple of bars and try them out. For £2 its worth a try. Of course they don’t compare to Amedei, Pralus or Valrhona, but they are definitely worth trying!
